Overview

In this role you will lead traffic control engineering projects for clients across the UK and internationally, guiding technical design from feasibility to delivery. You’ll work with a cross‑functional team within Technology Services to solve traffic system challenges and deliver high‑quality design packages. You’ll engage with public authorities and contractors, aligning with standards and safety practices. Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialist technical consultancy and design services for traffic control engineering projects for internal and external clients
  • Produce design packages including layout drawings, design reports, ITS1827 forms, MOVA data sets and works specifications for junctions and crossings
  • Contribute to RAMS, hazard logs and technical assurance evidence
  • Provide implementation support (FAT, SAT, MOVA/Bus priority/SCOOT Validation) and respond to technical queries
  • Collaborate with highways, structures, drainage, geotechnical, environment and traffic teams to integrate technology with civil/electrical works
  • Attend meetings and engage with clients across the UK
  • Provide support and mentoring to junior team members
  • Ensure compliance with UK standards (DMRB, TSM, TSRGD), CDM2015 and Safe by Design
  • Support programme, cost, and risk management; contribute to bids and technical proposals
  • Check quality of deliverables against client brief and AECOM quality procedures
Key requirements
  • BEng or equivalent in Electrical, Electronics, or Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of latest traffic control design standards and implementation processes
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civils3D; capability to produce moved data sets and design reports
  • NHSS8 / HERS registered
  • Experience in traffic control design and MOVA control
  • Design skills in MOVA and SCOOT at junction and corridor levels
  • Collaboration across multi-disciplinary teams
