What You’ll Be Doing

As the Senior Trust Officer with CIBC Trust, you will play an integral role in the management and administration of Indigenous Trusts, contributing to deepening and strengthening client relationships by providing tailored solutions that consider and respect their unique needs and the cultural nuances that exist within each Indigenous community we serve. The role is responsible for the administration and oversight of Indigenous Trust accounts, delivering tailored fiduciary solutions that align with client goals, governing documents, applicable legislation, and the cultural considerations unique to the Indigenous communities we serve. In this role, you will strengthen client relationships through trusted advice, responsive service, and collaboration with Relationship Managers, internal partners, and external advisors, while ensuring compliance with CIBC Trust policies and procedures related to account administration, cash management, fee collection, investments, and risk management. The role also supports new business onboarding, resolves operational, technical, and discretionary issues, and contributes to a seamless client experience by applying strong trust and estate expertise, sound judgement, and a commitment to culturally respectful, client-focused service.

How You’ll Succeed

Collaboration: Develop and maintain strong partnerships with Relationship Managers to provide legendary client service. Partner with internal and external experts (Investment Management, Lawyers, Accountants, Auditors) to provide oversight and guidance on client investment and tax issues.

Trust & Estate Acumen: Demonstrate detailed knowledge of the unique needs of Indigenous clients and the characteristics of Indigenous Trusts. Optimize account management and ensure compliance with governing documents.

Client Experience: Take ownership and accountability for efficient client problem resolution. Enhance customer loyalty and satisfaction.

Community Engagement: Demonstrate cultural awareness and sensitivity in all interactions with Indigenous clients and communities. Support initiatives that strengthen relationships and promote financial literacy.

Who You Are

  • You have a university degree or equivalent.
  • You can demonstrate 8-10 years of experience in the Estate & Trust Industry.
  • You are skilled in accounting, investing, and communicating complex financial, estate, and trust issues.
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Applications and familiar with portfolio management tools.
  • You’re a certified professional.
  • It is an asset if you have obtained the Member Trust Institute (MTI), Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP) designation(s) and/or it is an asset if you have current accreditation and are in good standing as an Investment Representative (IR) with Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization - Investment Dealer (CIRO-ID) to support investments administered under this platform.
