Senior/Principal Software Engineer

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of embedded software for safety-critical systems in aerospace. You will shape architectures, drive integration and verification, and mentor engineers to ensure certifiable solutions. You’ll engage with customers and stakeholders to shape solutions and strategy, delivering high-impact control and display software. This role offers the opportunity to influence technical direction across the full lifecycle and contribute to world-class aircraft systems.

• Lead the design and development of embedded software, including drivers, protocols and human-machine interfaces with certification artefacts
• Define system and software architectures from requirements using structured design, modelling and simulation
• Drive integration, verification and validation in a safety-critical environment
• Provide technical leadership through mentoring, peer reviews and best-practice
• Deliver reliable estimates including sizing and reuse
• Engage with customers to resolve technical challenges and shape solutions
• Contribute to engineering processes, design reviews and strategic decisions for high-quality, compliant delivery

• Degree or equivalent experience in a Scientific/Engineering environment (electronics-engineering, software-engineering, physics, maths)
• Excellent Software Engineering skills with significant experience in C/C++
• Extensive experience of Software Architecture Design using UML or model-based design techniques and experience with UML tools like CAMEO, EA, Rhapsody or Integrity Modeler
• Extensive experience interfacing software with hardware in a real-time environment
• Experience in DO-178B/C Standards
