Overview

As a Signal Processing Architect at NECTML, you will define and architect L1/L2 signal processing blocks across link- and system-level simulators, vDU software, and RU hardware IP to advance 5G NR/5G Advanced/6G development. You will collaborate with cross-border software and hardware teams to implement features aligned with 3GPP standards and contribute to AI/ML-enabled development workflows. Your work shapes both the simulation tools and product implementations, enabling robust verification and standardisation contributions. This role offers impact across research, development and standardisation, with exposure to cutting-edge radio technology in a global team.

Responsibilities
  • Define and architect L1/L2 processing blocks for Link Level and System Level simulators, vDU software, and RU IP
  • Provide technical support to software/hardware teams and deliver reference models for real-time testing
  • Design, implement, and verify new features against 3GPP specifications and published results
  • Track and interpret 3GPP RAN1/RAN2 developments; identify and implement feature updates in simulators
  • Develop and deploy agentic AI tools to automate software development processes
  • Learn simulator kernel internals to extend platform functionality
  • Collaborate with NEC groups worldwide and contribute to documentation
  • Ensure QA procedures compliance throughout development life cycle
Key requirements
  • Expert-level DSP skills
  • Strong linear algebra, probability theory and statistics
  • Algorithm development experience (synchronisation, channel estimation, equalisation/MIMO, decoding)
  • Strong OO and C++ programming skills
  • Experience with link/system level simulation
  • Understanding of 5G NR/5G Advanced/6G
  • Familiarity with 3GPP standards and RAN1/RAN2 specs
  • AI/ML understanding, especially agentic AI for automation
  • MATLAB data analysis experience
  • Software development life cycle experience
  • Excellent English skills
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Analytical and methodical problem-solver
  • Able to meet tight deadlines
  • 3GPP RAN1/RAN2 specifications knowledge
  • C++ programming (OO)
