Overview
This role requires strict adherence to the project strategy, company policies, and standards, including Environment, Health & Safety (EHS), railway safety regulations, local legislation, and professional standards, while meeting project Quality, Cost, and Delivery (QCD) targets.
The Test & Commissioning Tester is responsible for the execution and supervision of testing and commissioning activities for the OnCorr project within the Metrolinx operating area.
As a safety-critical position, the Test & Commissioning Tester plays a vital role in validating the signalling system and ensuring compliance with legal requirements, as well as Metrolinx and AREMA standards. The Test & Commissioning Tester reports to the Project Commissioning Manager to define, plan, and allocate the testing scope across the various stages of the project.
Main Responsibilities
Prepare and execute testing activities
in support to one or several Projects on railway signalling systems under the direction of his / her hierarchy
according to the testing procedure / documentation and following Project Commissioning Manager and / or Tester in Charge instructions
Ensure defects identification and correction (trouble shooting)
In the event of a non-conformity observed during the commissioning phase, make a return experience (REX) towards the project, and ensure that all design related issues are correctly reported in the adequate tools, including the defect description and associated test context
Ensure follow-up of detected issues and deliver the commissioning reports.
Check that the test tools are in perfect working order and calibrated.
Support V&V team and perform test in lab as per request under the responsibility of the V&V Manager
Deliver the committed performance in terms of Quality, Costs and Deadlines and in compliance with Alstom policies, local standards and regulations in particular EHS and Railway Safety.
Develop T&C procedures based on defined specifications and requirements in area of specialization to meet contractual requirements.
Provide technical leadership to individuals or teams for tools, procedure and in resolving problems
Report on a regular basis to the Project Commissioning Manager on progress and issues
Report on the anomalies arising during site testing and interfaces with engineering team towards to close the anomaly
Proactive supporting development of resources competency to other T&C team members
Lead and oversee testing activities ensuring compliance to health and safety project requirements
Key Performance Indicators
Efficiency and proactivity during the execution of the T&C tests
Compliance to EHS (Zero Deviation) and Regulatory standards
Quality of anticipation, monitoring and reporting
Experience & Requirements
College diploma in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology or equivalent combination of experience and education
2-3 yearsexperience in Test and Commissioning in a Railway Environment
Knowledge of Health, Safety, Environment requirements
Available to work at night, during weekends and on public holidays
Rigorous & team player
Resilience, with an analytic way of thinking in order to solve complex system failures
Customer satisfaction and results orientated
Able to communicate in an open and clear manner with various stakeholders
Ability to use new technologies and tools
Driving license
Behavioral and Technical Skills
Strong ownership and accountability of activities assigned
Proactive to promptly solve technical issues and anticipate all technical difficulties, resource and other project challenges
Stong organization skills include time management
Other Desirable Experience & Technical Skills
IRSE Licence Holder or Previously Held Signalling Functional Tester 1.3.170 or
Signalling Electronic Tester 1.3.260
Knowledge of Alstom Products
Knowledge of European Train Control System
CROR certification considered an asset.
309 A Construction and Maintenance Electrician considered a strong asset.
Travel Requirements:
Ability to travel occasionally within Canada or abroadfor meetings with management, training or site support.

Compensation
The expected compensation for this role is $90,000 – $120,000 CAD per year, plus benefits and eligibility for an annual performance bonus. Final compensation will be based on skills, experience, and internal equity.0
