Site Reliability Engineer

As a Platform Engineer at GoCardless, you will help build and operate scalable infrastructure that powers payments globally. You’ll partner with software engineers and data scientists to design reliable, secure platforms, focusing on automation and operational excellence. The role blends project work with BAU support, incident response, and compliance-driven improvements. You’ll contribute to a cloud-first stack, shaping tooling that reduces toil and speeds delivery, in a globally distributed team.

• Build and deploy new platform components from design to production
• Maintain health and stability through on-call rotations and incident management
• Perform BAU maintenance, improvements, and audits/compliance support
• Automate infrastructure and operational tasks to reduce toil
• Collaborate with software engineers and data scientists on architectural decisions
• Contribute to architectural design discussions and technical decisions
• Work in a cloud-first environment and support scalable, secure systems
• Engage in ongoing skill development and alignment with GoCardless values

• Experience with at least one programming language (Python, Ruby, Golang)
• Experience with IaC tooling (Terraform)
• Terraform automation tooling knowledge (Terragrunt or Atlantis advantageous)
• Experience with AWS or GCP
• Experience with containerized applications and Kubernetes/GKE (advantageous)
• Experience with CI/CD tooling (GitHub Actions, ArgoCD)
• Experience with monitoring tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Datadog)
• Experience with relational databases and high-availability optimization
• Awareness of DevOps and Agile principles
• Fluency in English
