Overview

As a Site Reliability Engineer at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, you will blend software and systems engineering to automate operations and improve the reliability of critical mission systems. You’ll work with development teams to design, monitor, and optimize applications and infrastructure for maximal availability and performance. You’ll join a growing SRE function that supports a national security customer and embraces a culture of continual improvement. This role offers hands-on problem solving, modern observability, and the chance to shape how systems are built and maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and improve availability, performance, and stability of core mission applications
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rota with compensations for after-hours work
  • Automate repetitive operations to reduce manual tasks
  • Design and deploy monitoring tools to provide actionable observability
  • Collaborate with development teams to promote good design and reliability practices
  • Develop bespoke tools and scripts to understand health and performance of systems
  • Understandology of software-infrastructure interactions to ensure scalability and resilience
  • Engage with the wider DevOps/SRE community within the organization
Key requirements
  • Software development in web technologies and object-oriented programming
  • Database technologies such as Oracle SQL, Mongo, Postgres
  • Proficiency with Linux and Windows command lines (Bash, PowerShell)
  • Monitoring technologies (Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, Splunk)
  • Experience in Agile environments and tooling (Atlassian)
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting application outages
  • Troubleshooting across stack levels
  • Understanding of ITIL
  • Micro-services architectures; Docker, Openshift, Kubernetes
  • Awareness of cutting-edge tools and technology trends
  • Active eDV security clearance
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on automation
  • Collaborative, cross-functional communication
  • Web development in OO languages
  • Databases: Oracle SQL, Mongo, Postgres
  • Linux/Windows CLI: Bash, PowerShell
