Overview
In this role you will ensure software quality across onboard and ground software while supporting mission assurance during satellite operations. You will collaborate with software, systems, and operations teams to ensure deviations are understood and resolved. The position lies at the intersection of software QA and on-orbit operations, with increasing automation and AI/ML integration on the horizon. You help shape how we verify quality, investigate anomalies, and drive reliable performance of the fleet.

- Define and maintain software QA processes, standards, and acceptance criteria across the full lifecycle for onboard and ground software
- Ensure comprehensive software verification and validation activities are executed correctly
- Ensure the Software Development Lifecycle meets quality requirements and standards
- Manage deviations safely and in a controlled manner when processes are not strictly followed
- Raise, track, and manage non-conformances with corrective and preventive actions
- Identify and communicate risks to the project and management
- Maintain software configuration baselines throughout development and mission lifetimes
- Ensure software releases are reviewed and compliant with standards
- Contribute to process improvement and ensure compliance with ISO 29110, ECSS-Q-ST-80, ECSS-E-ST-40, or equivalent
- Provide Mission Assurance support to satellite operations during critical phases and anomaly response
- Lead and contribute to anomaly investigations, root cause analyses, and failure review boards with thorough documentation
- Assess mission impact of anomalies and coordinate workarounds, corrective actions, and recovery steps
- Identify links between incidents and coordinate fleet-wide responses to common anomalies
- Feed lessons learned back to satellite development teams via non-conformance and corrective action processes
- Collaborate across software development, systems engineering and satellite operations to improve ops tooling, FDIR, and automation toward AI/ML systems
- Serve as the mission assurance interface to operations, software, and systems engineers during investigations and resolutions
- BSc or MEng in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline
- 3+ years in software QA, systems engineering, or mission assurance within a highly regulated industry (aerospace, defence, banking, medical)
- Proven track record in investigations and fault finding of complex systems
- Familiarity with Git and issue tracking tools
- Understanding of software development lifecycles (Agile and/or waterfall) and QA activities
- Clear and concise communicator capable of presenting technical findings to management and non-specialists
