Software Architect

In this role, you will design and build data platforms and semantic models that enable cross-product interoperability across Autodesk’s AEC suite. You drive the evolution of AEC data schemas and lead cross-team architectural decisions to support design, construction, and operations workflows. You will shape the next generation of Autodesk Forma Industry Cloud capabilities and collaborate with product teams across Revit, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Construction Cloud. You’ll translate complex concepts into scalable, well-governed data architectures with measurable impact.

• Define and evolve cross-team data platform architectures; design distributed systems including APIs, event streams, and data pipelines
• Design and evolve AEC data schemas for domain entities; create semantic data models with extensibility and backward compatibility
• Establish schema versioning, deprecation policies, migration patterns, and maintain a schema registry
• Set standards and governance; lead ADRs and conduct design reviews across teams
• Define and implement mappings between industry standards (IFC, COBie, CityGML, LandXML) and internal models
• Design APIs/services for REST, GraphQL, and gRPC; specify serialization formats and ensure backward compatibility at scale
• Ensure reliability, security, and performance; define SLOs and improve observability
• Collaborate across product and platform teams to align roadmaps and drive adoption
• Communicate architectures with diagrams and executive-ready narratives; produce documentation and onboarding materials

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or equivalent experience
• 10+ years as a Software Architect in data-intensive cloud environments
• Experience with cloud services, API design, database architecture, big data tools and frameworks
• Strong understanding of data modeling and schema design; proficiency in schema definition languages (JSON Schema); exposure to schema versioning and evolution
• Excellent knowledge of software design and architecture patterns
• Ability to influence without authority and drive cross-team alignment
• Strong verbal and written communication; ability to present architecture strategy to diverse stakeholders
