£55,000 - £58,000 + Excellent Benefits

37.5 hours per week | 4-Day Week (Monday to Thursday) | Hybrid Working

Locations: Portsmouth or Gloucester

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Software Compliance & Assurance Engineer to provide independent quality oversight across a range of complex software and systems programmes.

This is a key role responsible for ensuring activities are delivered in accordance with regulatory, statutory and business requirements whilst supporting software assurance, compliance, auditing and continuous improvement activities.

The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, programme and quality teams, providing guidance, assurance and support across the full lifecycle of software and systems development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Software Quality Assurance oversight across multiple programmes.
  • Support software and systems assurance activities throughout the engineering lifecycle.
  • Plan, conduct and support internal and external audits.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable quality standards, processes and procedures.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and support corrective action activities.
  • Work with programme teams to identify and drive continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support supplier and subcontractor quality activities, including audits and assessments where required.
  • Engage with customer, military, regulatory and industry quality representatives.

Essential Experience

  • Previous experience within Software Quality Assurance, Software Assurance or Quality Engineering environments.
  • Qualified Lead Auditor in AS9100, ISO9001, ISO27001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Experience planning, conducting and supporting audits.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycles and software quality assurance methodologies.
  • Experience working within highly regulated or safety-critical environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and driving process improvement initiatives.

Desirable Experience

  • Defence, Aerospace, Aviation, Maritime or other highly regulated industries.
  • Knowledge of ISO 27001 and ISO 20000.
  • Experience working within Agile development environments.
  • Familiarity with software and systems engineering processes.
  • Experience supporting supplier quality activities.
  • Lean Six Sigma qualification.
  • Understanding of military or defence quality frameworks.
