About the role

The role plays a critical part in maintaining the configuration of IT based processing systems to the optimum operational and test specific standards. Reporting to the Sustainment Service Desk Manager and LMSOC Technical Manager , The Software Configuration Analyst will be responsible for but not limited to supporting, execution and automation of software deployments and configuration changes to a large mixed-OS estate:

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain system configuration files across 2,000+ targets, including validation of configuration sets containing up to 1,500 parameters using scripting, reporting, and deployment tools.
  • Process and deploy 30+ types of customer-supplied operational data files (ODFs) to between 30 and 500 targets on a regular basis.
  • Maintain Integration & Test (I&T) and production environments, ensuring accurate, timely, and fault-free configuration and software deployments.
  • Monitor mission-critical applications and services, analyse performance trends, investigate service degradation, and troubleshoot application and configuration issues.
  • Support development and integration activities, including defect management, performance trials, system validation, and agile sprint release deployments.
  • Work closely with customer, integration, development, and external technical teams to validate configurations, resolve issues, and coordinate future software releases.
  • Maintain and support server infrastructure to meet SLA requirements and coordinate hardware and software builds with onsite technicians.
  • Create and manage customer address directories and provide ad hoc reports, tools, and utilities to customers, management, and support teams.
  • Assist in managing incident, service request, and change queues across multiple toolsets, while maintaining and updating processes and procedures.
  • Act as a key technical contact for deployment activities, advising first-line support on system changes and providing out-of-hours and 3rd-line on-call support when required.

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong proven background in understanding Unix/Linux technologies.
  • Strong proven background in supporting Windows systems and technologies.
  • Proven track record in deploying software to large mixed estates.
  • Proven track record working with enterprise management tools.
  • Proven track record in developing information technology systems.
