As a Software Development Engineer II on the AMC team, your focus will be on the core services that power the platform and enable it to scale. AMC provides advertisers with a secure, privacy-safe cloud environment where they can perform advanced analytics across multiple pseudonymised data sets — informing cross-channel marketing decisions with tools for custom measurement, media planning, targeting, and optimisation . This is a multi-year greenfield project built on a native AWS stack.

The team values solid computer science fundamentals and a proven track record of shipping production-quality software systems . You don't need to be a specialist in every technology used — what matters most is curiosity, strong problem-solving ability, and a genuine drive to build things that scale. You'll be expected to simplify complex problems , engage directly with customers to uncover true requirements, and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence through code reviews and design discussions.

Benefits and Salary

The base salary range for this position in Toronto is $114,800 to $191,800 CAD annually . Amazon's total compensation package may also include sign-on payments and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs) , with final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. • Design and build scalable back-end services using Kotlin and native AWS that power the Amazon Marketing Cloud platform
• Develop front-end components using ReactJS to support advertiser-facing analytics capabilities
• Engineer solutions for massive-scale streaming systems, machine learning pipelines, and data science workloads
• Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to discover true requirements underlying feature requests

Requirements / Skills

Amazon is looking for a motivated software engineer with strong computer science fundamentals and experience shipping real production systems. You don't need to be an expert in every technology the team uses — but you should be comfortable learning quickly, working through ambiguity, and tackling challenging engineering problems with curiosity and rigour.

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of experience in design or architecture (design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and existing systems
• Proficiency in at least one software programming language
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations (preferred)
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent (preferred)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to simplify complex challenges
