In this role you will maintain and design software across embedded Linux and PC platforms for Bach-Simpson monitoring products. You will work within the software team to deliver solutions that support rail transit systems, reporting to the Software Manager. You’ll tackle both maintenance and new architecture tasks, collaborating with cross-functional teams to meet product requirements. The role emphasizes hands-on development, documentation, and continual process improvements to raise quality and efficiency. - Participate in daily stand-up meetings with the team
- Analyze technical requirements and design software to meet formal requirements
- Implement software designs and code across embedded and PC platforms
- Debug, identify root causes, and fix software defects
- Create and maintain formal software design documentation
- Assist other groups in understanding product behavior
- Collaborate with product management to address customer feedback
- Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
- Minimum 5 years professional experience with C programming
- Experience with embedded systems and bare-metal programming
- Ability to see the bigger picture and suggest process improvements
- Willingness to embrace AI for more efficient workflows
- Strong English communication skills (verbal and written)
- Efficient self-motivation with ability to prioritize multiple streams of work and meet deadlines
- Excellent attention to detail
- Legal authorization to work in Canada and willingness to travel internationally
