Overview

In this hands-on role, you reshape backend services for a leading international payments platform. You’ll work in a small, autonomous team to deliver new capabilities and influence the platform’s architecture. You design and build robust APIs and backend systems using C# .Net Core, with a focus on scalable microservices and event-driven patterns. You’ll optimise SQL data models, champion automated testing, and operate in production on AWS, while mentoring peers and advancing engineering best practices. This is an engaging opportunity to directly impact product evolution and technical excellence.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement robust APIs and backend services using C# .Net Core
  • Lead delivery of new capabilities and technical projects from design to production
  • Contribute to system design and architectural decisions across microservices and event-driven environments
  • Design and optimise SQL databases and queries
  • Maintain high standards of automated testing
  • Work with AWS and other cloud platforms in production
  • Mentor other engineers and share technical knowledge
  • Utilise AI development tools to improve engineering productivity
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to evolve the platform architecture
  • Participate in shaping the next generation of the payments platform
Key requirements
  • Strong C# .Net Core backend development experience
  • Experience building production APIs
  • Good SQL skills
  • Experience with system design, software architecture, microservices and event driven systems
  • Comfort with cloud infrastructure in production; AWS preferred
  • Experience mentoring engineers and sharing knowledge
  • Hands-on experience with AI coding/development tools such as Claude or Copilot
  • Finance/payments experience is desirable but not essential
