Software Developer – Integration

Venor is proud to partner with GeoSpectrum Technologies on their search for a Software Developer – Integration to join their team in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. GeoSpectrum Technologies is a Dartmouth-based engineering and technology company specializing in advanced underwater acoustic systems. Since 1994, they have designed and manufactured innovative acoustic components, transducers, and end-to-end sonar solutions for clients across defence, ocean science, maritime surveillance, and energy. As a Software Developer – Integration, you will develop and test software that interfaces directly with hardware components, including audio cards and non-acoustic sensors. Working closely with systems engineers, you'll help define and refine hardware interfaces, validate performance on high channel count and high sampling rate audio systems, and support automation efforts across the team. This is an onsite position based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

The Opportunity

What You'll Be Doing

• Develop software to interface with hardware components, including audio cards and non-acoustic sensors
• Test new hardware interfaces to validate performance, including high channel count and high sampling rate audio cards
• Collaborate with systems engineers to define and refine hardware interfaces
• Support automation efforts using Python and Bash scripting
• Work within a Linux-based development environment
• Contribute to a growing software integration team, working alongside developers and QA

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate is a junior to intermediate-level software developer with strong C or C++ skills and hands-on experience working close to hardware. You're comfortable in a Linux environment, can pick up automation tasks in Python, and enjoy solving problems at the intersection of software and hardware. Strong proficiency in C or C++ Experience working in a Linux environment Working knowledge of Python for scripting and automation Intermediate level experience, though strong junior candidates with real C/C++ experience will be considered Background in computer science, electrical engineering, or computer engineering

The following are considered assets:

• Experience with networking or network protocols
• Direct hardware experience or exposure
• Familiarity with audio processing or DSP
• Experience with IoT or embedded systems

Security Requirements

All candidates must be eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods registration and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
