Software Developer (Java/C++) - A1 SC Cleared | £

A leading engineering team is looking for a UKIC DV-cleared Software Developer to support the development of high-performance backend software solutions within secure government and defence environments.

The role focuses on designing, developing and maintaining scalable systems using Java and C++ within Linux environments , with involvement across technical design, architecture and engineering best practices.

The successful candidate will work on backend services, APIs and distributed applications, helping to deliver secure, reliable and maintainable software solutions. The role will also involve contributing to technical decisions, collaborating with engineering teams and supporting the continuous improvement of development practices.

Key requirements:

• Commercial experience developing with Java and/or C++
• Strong experience working within Linux environments
• Experience building backend applications, APIs and distributed systems
• Understanding of software architecture, design patterns and object-oriented programming
• Experience with multithreading, debugging and performance optimisation
• Exposure to Docker, CI/CD, DevSecOps and Git workflows
• Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases

This is an excellent opportunity for a Software Developer to work on technically challenging projects, developing secure software solutions alongside an experienced engineering team.

Salary: £53,000-£78,000
Clearance: Active A1 SC required
