In this role you will lead the design and delivery of complex systems and APIs for Expedia Group's B2B partner ecosystem. You will mentor engineers, drive critical engineering initiatives, and shape technical direction across the organization. Expect hands-on development, on-call responsibility, and collaboration with cross-functional partners to ensure reliable, scalable software. Responsibilities- Lead design, development, and delivery of complex systems and APIs used across the business unit
- Operate Tier 1 or business-critical services with on-call rotations and incident response
- Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and technical guidance
- Collaborate across teams to identify dependencies and solve problems
- Design clean, modular, and maintainable software applying design principles and patterns
- Test, debug, and resolve production issues within SLAs
- Identify inefficiencies and propose improvements in code and operations
- Contribute to a community of practice and share technical knowledge
- Present findings on operational or technical initiatives to stakeholders
- Develop robust data solutions leveraging databases and data design principles
- Facilitate stakeholder alignment to develop actionable solutions
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent professional experience — 5+ years, or Master’s degree with 3+ years
- Proficiency in at least three programming languages; primary experience in Java/Kotlin or another JVM-based language
- Experience with NoSQL databases, particularly DynamoDB
- Experience operating Tier 1 services, on-call rotations, and production incident handling
- Experience maintaining and operating at least 4 software projects in production environments
- Experience designing and building APIs for cross-unit consumption
- Knowledge of software design principles, data structures, design patterns, and CS fundamentals
- Familiarity with testing and monitoring tools and designing observable software
- Ability to work collaboratively and autonomously across cross-functional teams
