Software Development Team Lead (C#)
System C
Location: Brentwood, United Kingdom
Salary: 57500GBP - 67500GBP DoE
Lead delivery. Build capability. Make an impact.
At System C, we're on a mission to improve health and care outcomes through innovative technology. As our CMM team continues to grow, we're creating a new Software Development Team Lead, known internally as Technical Team Lead, position to support a significant roadmap of NHS-funded work and establish a third delivery team. System C combines meaningful work with a collaborative environment where people are encouraged to grow, take ownership, and make a real difference.
This role is about more than leading development activities. You'll be responsible for helping a delivery team perform at its best, embedding effective agile practices, and creating an environment where engineers can thrive.
What you'll be doing
- Leading one of the CMM delivery teams and taking ownership of delivery outcomes
- Guiding day-to-day technical decisions and ensuring adherence to engineering standards
- Contributing hands-on to software development, writing and reviewing production code alongside the team
- Planning sprint delivery, tracking progress, and proactively managing risks and dependencies
- Working closely with Product, QA, Information Security, Release Train Management and Architecture teams
- Supporting complex technical problem-solving across the team
- Introducing and embedding effective agile delivery practices
- Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers
- Providing regular guidance, support and performance feedback
- Helping deliver a substantial roadmap by coordinating multiple parallel workstreams
What you'll bring
- Proven experience leading software development teams
- A solid technical background, ideally including C#, ASP.NET and SQL
- Experience planning sprint-based delivery and managing competing priorities
- Experience collaborating across technical and non-technical disciplines
- Strong coaching and people development skills
- NHS or healthcare sector experience
- HL7 or FHIR messaging experience
What we're looking for
You'll combine technical credibility with strong leadership skills. You'll be comfortable working in a fast-moving environment, balancing delivery against quality, and bringing people together to achieve shared outcomes.
We're particularly interested in individuals who demonstrate ownership, integrity, collaboration and a continuous improvement mindset.
Why System C?
We believe great people do their best work in supportive environments. You'll join a team that values collaboration, accountability and professional growth, with opportunities for learning, development and recognition alongside a comprehensive package of wellbeing and flexible benefits.
At System C, we believe great work happens when flexibility and collaboration come together. All our roles are offered on a hybrid basis, with colleagues spending a minimum of two days each week in the office to connect, create, and grow together. (Excludes associate and field-based roles).
We prioritise transparency in our job requirements and selection criteria, ensuring they are based solely on the essentials needed for effective job performance. We consciously avoid assumptions that could skew our perception of a candidate’s suitability for hire.
Our recruitment practices are designed to ensure that no applicant is unfairly disadvantaged by procedures or requirements that disproportionately affect protected groups without being essential for the job.
For every position, we develop a detailed job description and person specification. This approach maintains our focus on the true demands of the role and the skills, experience, and qualifications necessary. During interviews, we involve multiple interviewers where possible to further mitigate unintentional bias, thereby promoting a fair and equitable hiring process.
