Overview
As a Software Engineer at Barclays, you will design, develop, and improve software that powers business, platform, and technology capabilities. You work with product, design, and engineering peers to translate requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions. You contribute to code quality through reviews, testing, and secure coding practices while staying aligned with regulatory and risk controls. Responsibilities- Develop and deliver high-quality software using industry-standard languages, frameworks, and tools
- Ensure code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define requirements and align with business objectives
- Participate in code reviews and promote code quality and knowledge sharing
- Stay current with technology trends and contribute to technical communities
- Follow secure coding practices to protect data and mitigate vulnerabilities
- Implement effective unit testing to ensure design quality, readability, and reliability
- Proficiency in Golang, Java, C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, React
- Experience in writing efficient, maintainable, and testable code with OO design, microservices, and API development
- Ability to collaborate in Agile teams, conduct code reviews, and deliver high-quality software
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and DevOps practices (CI/CD)
- Experience with relational databases (SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL) and exposure to NoSQL
- Knowledge of banking and financial services technology and regulatory environments
