Overview

In this role you will help build and evolve HSBC's on-premises Digital Hosting Platform, serving as the link between infrastructure and product teams. You will design scalable microservices, champion DevOps-led delivery, and provide rapid production support to keep the platform reliable and secure. You will work with cross-functional teams to unblock engineers and continuously improve the platform experience. Responsibilities
  • Partner with Product Owners to understand requirements and break them into deliverable items
  • Design and build robust, scalable microservices with high observability and supportability, following DevOps and Agile principles
  • Own deliverables end-to-end, from design through deployment and timelines
  • Provide rapid, effective production support; perform root cause analysis on incidents and drive long-term fixes
  • Act as a trusted technical consultant for platform users, resolving queries and unblocking teams quickly
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional IT teams and coordinate stakeholder activities to evolve the platform
  • Proactively manage technical debt and keep security and vulnerability posture sharp
  • Mentor junior developers, share knowledge, and foster a high-performing team culture
Key requirements
  • Extensive software engineering experience with solid background in DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE
  • Strong understanding of internet tech under the hood (DNS, TLS, load balancing, reverse proxies, service meshes, API gateways) and how these fit into microservice architectures
  • Strong programming ability in Java, Python, Node, JavaScript or Clojure
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring/observability tools such as Grafana and InfluxDB; familiarity with time-series databases and data visualization concepts
  • Proactive mindset for identifying problems and improvement opportunities before they escalate
  • Proven experience managing critical production incidents under pressure
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; comfortable with cross-functional and distributed teams
