Software Engineer

• Write, test and maintain high-quality, secure and reliable code
• Implement features aligned to engineering standards and architectural direction
• Contribute to automated testing and continuous improvement of the codebase
• Contribute to feature-level design discussions and solution proposals
• Apply system design principles under guidance from senior engineers, principal engineers and architects
• Participate in peer code reviews and apply coding standards, design patterns and best practices
• Deliver work items from design through development, testing and deployment
• Provide estimates and communicate progress or blockers
• Troubleshoot issues in development, integration and production environments
• Follow technical guidance and contribute ideas, risk identification and technical discussions
• Work with Product, QA, DevOps, UI/UX, Principal Engineer and Architecture partners
• Communicate design considerations, progress and technical trade-offs
• Solve well-defined problems and contribute to system reliability and performance
• Learn from team members, pair with senior engineers and share learnings with teammates

Requirements

• Hands-on experience in Python and a web-development framework such as Django
• Experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, ideally in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure or GCP
• Strong understanding of core software engineering principles
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing and version control
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
• Willingness to learn new tools, technologies and domain knowledge
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent professional experience
• Exposure to React, Node.js, Terraform, Celery or containerisation (desirable)
• Understanding of database schema design and query optimisation (desirable)
• Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code, cloud-native services or distributed systems (desirable)
