Software Engineer

Location: UK - Hybrid (minimum 2 days onsite per week) Contract: 12 Months - Fixed Term Positions: Multiple opportunities Job Description We are recruiting for an experienced Software Engineer to join a Core Banking Platform engineering team, developing and maintaining business-critical retail banking applications. The successful candidate will work with Unisys mainframe technologies, supporting software development, application enhancements, troubleshooting and system integration.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and enhance software applications using Unisys COBOL and DMS 1100.
- Work with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Investigate application issues, troubleshoot existing software and implement necessary fixes.
- Assess and communicate the impact of changes on interfacing systems.
- Support system testing and integration testing activities.
- Participate in Agile delivery processes, including daily stand-ups and project updates.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience working with Unisys mainframes.
- Strong COBOL programming experience.
- Hands-on experience with DMS 1100 hierarchical databases.
- Functional knowledge of retail banking.
- Experience with batch processing and job scheduling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
Desirable Skills
- C programming experience.
- Good communication and leadership abilities.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new requirements
