Software Engineer

In this Software Engineer role at bp, you will build and operate scalable, secure software that powers bp’s global operations. You’ll collaborate across teams to adopt modern engineering standards and shape digital products using the Yalla stack. You’ll own and deliver production-ready code and contribute to reliable releases in a fast-moving energy tech environment. • Design and implement scalable, secure software solutions
• Collaborate with tech leads to deliver team priorities aligned with bp strategy
• Integrate solutions with the Yalla stack across bp teams
• Write production-ready code in C#, Python, Java, or Go and learn new technologies as needed
• Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers to maximize platform utility
• Deliver changes to the platform in a timely, reliable manner
• Uphold bp’s software engineering standards and best practices
• Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines and release processes
• Mentor teammates and contribute to a collaborative team culture
• Design and optimize relational databases and data models
• Improve live service reliability through monitoring and incident response
• Participate in system design discussions with guidance from senior engineers
• Apply secure coding practices per bp information security standards
• Contribute to delivery planning and execution of digital initiatives

• Production software engineering experience
• Strong understanding of Agile development and modern software practices
• Collaborative mindset with clear communication across stakeholders
• Hands-on CI/CD pipelines, build automation, or release processes
• Experience with relational databases and data modeling
• Proficiency in at least one language (Java, C#, Python, Go, JavaScript, TypeScript) and willingness to learn others
• Familiarity with container-based development
• Understanding of secure software development principles
• Experience with production-ready systems including logging and monitoring
• Ability to participate in system design discussions with senior guidance
• Experience using Git-based source control and common branching strategies
