Overview

In this role you will build and maintain reliable backend services and data pipelines that support forecasting, trading and daily business operations for a growing energy trading business. You will work closely with engineers and traders to turn data and models into production-ready software. The role sits between backend and data engineering, connecting internal systems to external sources and improving system resilience. This is a hands-on, in-person opportunity to impact cash management, financial workflows and cross-market growth from a Bristol office.

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain data ingestion services connecting internal systems and external sources
  • Develop backend services, integrations and workflows powering internal tools
  • Create data transformations, validation and quality checks
  • Operationalize forecasting and data science outputs into production services
  • Improve failure handling, retries, monitoring and recovery
  • Collaborate with engineering and trading to translate problems into practical solutions
Key requirements
  • Backend development experience, ideally in Python
  • Experience with AWS
  • Strong understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Experience building and maintaining production software
  • Interest in data pipelines, integrations and asynchronous workflows
  • Enthusiastic, practical approach with ownership mindset
