Software Engineer

In this hands-on role you will help build a new Electron and Chromium-based desktop platform for Autodesk web apps. You will act as an individual contributor, developing desktop features, ensuring secure and reliable operation, and collaborating with senior engineers to scale the platform. You’ll work on Windows native integration, runtime configuration, and cross-process communication to deliver a high-performance user experience. • Develop and maintain features in the Electron main process, preload layer, and renderer integration
• Work with Chromium configuration and desktop platform integration to enable required capabilities
• Implement Windows desktop lifecycle, OS integration, and native functionality
• Investigate crashes, runtime issues, memory concerns, and security problems
• Develop features from design through testing and code review
• Ensure secure communication between web content and desktop functionality
• Write unit and integration tests and contribute to automated quality practices
• Apply Electron security best practices including process isolation and secure IPC
• Integrate with identity, crash reporting, telemetry, and software distribution services
• Evaluate and adopt new Electron/Chromium versions and resolve compatibility issues

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
• 1+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript
• Familiarity with Node.js and modern web technologies
• Understanding of source control, testing, debugging, and code review
• Ability to troubleshoot using logs, debuggers, and development tools
• Ability to learn unfamiliar technologies with guidance from seniors
