Software Engineer, Android Digital Wellbeing
In this role you will build intuitive, high-performance Android experiences for a wide user base, blending Kotlin/Java development with on-device ML and privacy‑preserving AI. You’ll collaborate with UX, Data Science, and Privacy teams and align with core Android efforts and Kids and Families initiatives to deliver cohesive, platform-wide experiences. You will lead rapid prototyping and architecture reviews to move ideas from concept to global rollout. Expect to write clean, tested code and participate in design and code reviews to sustain engineering excellence. This role supports Google's Digital Wellbeing mission of empowering mindful technology use at scale.
Responsibilities- Develop intuitive Android experiences using Kotlin/Java and modern UI frameworks
- Integrate on-device ML and generative AI to create proactive, privacy-preserving features
- Collaborate with UX Design, UX Research, Data Science, and Privacy teams
- Coordinate with core Android teams and Kids and Families team for cohesive experiences
- Lead rapid prototyping, framework experiments, and architecture reviews during early-stage product exploration
- Write clean, efficient, maintainable, well-tested code across the stack
- Participate in design reviews, code reviews, and agile development processes
- 5 years of software development experience
- Experience with Android development
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
