Overview

As a Backend Software Engineer on the Core BI team, you design and operate backend services and APIs that power BI platforms used across Deliveroo, DoorDash and Wolt. You automate platform lifecycles and craft integrations with warehouses, identity providers and CI/CD tooling. You will elevate reliability, observability, security and developer experience while exploring AI-enabled capabilities. You work cross-functionally to turn recurring needs into durable, self-service solutions and own the end-to-end lifecycle of your problems.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, test, deploy and operate backend services and APIs for BI platforms
  • Automate platform lifecycle end-to-end (provisioning, metadata, permissions, migrations, archival, validation)
  • Create integrations between BI platforms and external systems (warehouses, identity providers, orchestration, CI/CD, internal tooling)
  • Improve availability, observability, performance, scalability and security of owned systems in production
  • Incorporate AI tooling into engineering work and develop AI-enabled capabilities with the same reliability/governance standards
  • Raise engineering bar through thoughtful service design, code reviews, testing, CI/CD and developer experience enhancements
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analytics engineers, data scientists, software engineers, product managers and business teams to deliver self-service capabilities
Key requirements
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building/operating production backend/platform/infrastructure systems
  • Proficient in Python with strong SQL and data modelling/warehousing understanding
  • Experience building/owning APIs, integrations or automation in production with clear data contracts and failure handling
  • Hands-on with CI/CD, containers and Kubernetes, observability, debugging and incident response
  • Experience using AI tools (LLMs, agentic workflows, AI-assisted development) in engineering contexts
  • End-to-end ownership of ambiguous problems and strong communication in fast-paced, distributed environments
