Overview

As a Software Engineer on the Customer Operations Platform, you will own end-to-end delivery of backend services that power operations, telemetry, and automation. You’ll work closely with Operations teams to translate real needs into scalable architectures and production-ready features. You’ll contribute to migrating monolith logic into decoupled services and experiment with AI-powered automation to improve efficiency. This role offers impactful work at pace, shaping how iwoca serves SMEs and speeds decisioning and funds flow.

Responsibilities
  • Own and deliver complex backend services used across teams (CRM, telephony, contact, task management)
  • Understand business context and how ops processes should run; translate needs into technical solutions
  • Perform scoping and prototyping to validate feasibility before roadmapping
  • Handle complex coding and architectural problems with ambiguity and technical complexity
  • Create clear technical documentation and actionable developer tickets
  • Build relationships with stakeholders across Operations Strategy, Credit Analysts, Account Managers, and Collections teams
  • Share new technologies and best practices within the team and company
Key requirements
  • Experience developing and owning shared backend services used by multiple teams
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (React, TypeScript) and browser debugging
  • Experience building and shaping distributed systems in complex business domains
  • Ability to translate complex operational needs into technical architecture
  • Strong capability using AI tools to automate routine tasks and assist research
  • Bonus: Commercial experience with Python frameworks like Django
  • Bonus: Experience with complex data architectures, including event-sourced data models
