Overview
In this role you will apply a software engineering lifecycle to deliver robust software for defence maritime systems. You will work in Dorset with a hybrid onsite arrangement, contributing to Open Systems architecture and system design. You will solve complex problems, critically review results for quality, and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure standards compliance. You will pursue SC clearance eligibility and operate in a defence domain that values secure, reliable software. This position offers meaningful impact within a mission-driven, high-security environment.
Responsibilities- Apply software engineering lifecycle methods across development tasks
- Design and implement software components using C++ and Visual Studio
- Review results and methods with stakeholders to ensure quality
- Support Open Systems Architectures and system design
- Maintain awareness of ISO 9001 and TickITplus standards
- Manage software configuration and change control
- Communicate effectively with expert and non-expert stakeholders
- Contribute within defence, maritime, or rail domains as relevant
- Experience with software engineering lifecycle processes and tools
- Proficiency in C++ and Visual Studio
- UML / Enterprise Architect for system design
- Understanding of Open Systems Architectures and principles
- Knowledge of software configuration management
- Ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders
- Experience in defence or maritime domains (preferred)
- SC clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance
