Overview

In this role you will build scalable, high-performance microservices within FanDuel's Core Marketing Platforms, enabling real-time customer communications and personalized campaigns. You will work on event-driven systems that process large data volumes and deliver insights to marketing partners. You’ll contribute to martech solutions enhanced by AI, helping drive customer engagement and retention at scale. Expect ownership, collaboration across teams, and opportunities to simplify and improve existing systems while shipping reliable software.

Responsibilities
  • Design and implement scalable microservices and event-driven components
  • Translate designs into clean, well-tested code and deliver on schedule
  • Write secure, maintainable code with low defect rates
  • Contribute to technical design, scoping, and prioritization discussions
  • Collaborate across teams, surface technical risks and opportunities
  • Share knowledge through documentation and team discussions
  • Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and planning
  • Own parts of product and technology and become a subject matter expert
  • Troubleshoot issues and provide timely resolutions; support customers
  • Take part in on-call rotation and maintain system reliability
Key requirements
  • Degree in Computer Science or related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience
  • Strong backend experience with Java
  • Understanding of AWS and DevOps concepts such as IaC (Terraform)
  • Experience with event streaming technologies (SNS/SQS or Kafka)
  • Good grasp of relational and non-relational databases, messaging queues, and concurrency handling
  • Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances
  • Familiarity with orchestration and containerisation (Kubernetes)
  • Experience with cloud-based infrastructure and testing concepts in SDLC
  • Familiarity with Agile environments
