Software Engineer - Frontend - Payments

As Senior Software Engineer on Kraken’s Payments & Blockchain team, you design and evolve payment processing systems that move digital and fiat funds securely and efficiently. You’ll work closely with cross-functional partners to improve onboarding, speed, and reliability of transactions, while upholding high standards of security. You will influence technical direction and mentor peers to deliver scalable financial software that protects client funds. This role blends fintech domain expertise with advanced frontend technologies to enhance the payments experience.

• Design, develop, and maintain payment processing systems using React.js and related tech
• Refine transaction flows to optimize speed, security, and reliability
• Improve onboarding experiences for users interacting with payment systems
• Develop features to boost engagement, retention, and loyalty within payments ecosystem
• Set high standards for secure, high-quality code and lead complex financial software projects
• Influence architectural and product decisions with a deep understanding of financial systems and security
• Mentor engineers and drive technical excellence and process improvements
• Design scalable, maintainable, and fault-tolerant financial systems ensuring compliance and security best practices

• 5+ years of software development in web/mobile apps
• Deep understanding of JavaScript/TypeScript and proficiency with React and React Native
• Experience with Next.js, RESTful APIs and WebSockets
• Experience with frontend testing frameworks
• Familiarity with modern frontend build pipelines and tooling
• Strong understanding of UI/UX best practices
• Experience in large tech organizations or fast-growing startups
