Software Engineer II

In this role you will shape the cloud native management interfaces for Couchbase’s cloud native database platform. You will help define interfaces and components that enable cloud native management, working with cross‑functional teams to integrate with ecosystem projects. You’ll engage open source cloud native communities as a Couchbase expert, and advocate cloud native best practices across engineering and field teams. This is a hands‑on, collaboration‑driven role that directly influences how Couchbase scales and adds value from cloud to edge.

• Implement management features integrating Couchbase with cloud native tech (Prometheus, Fluentd/Fluent-bit, Kubernetes Pod Autoscaler)
• Coordinate with other engineering teams on interdependent features and delivery timelines
• Write tutorials and contribute to integration guidance for Fluentd, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry
• Support Sales Engineers and Professional Services in enabling end users with cloud native tech
• Define and develop new features with Product Managers and Architects; act as SME for cloud native opportunities and challenges
• Collaborate with multiple engineering teams, sometimes as contributor or reviewer to promote cloud native adoption

• Kubernetes experience
• Proficiency in programming languages (one or more)
• Passion for learning new technologies
• Presence on GitHub or similar
• Strong Unix/Linux administration skills
