Overview

As a Software Engineer II at Viator, you will work on backend systems within a fast-growing, remote-friendly team that ships code frequently. You’ll collaborate with product managers and designers to design, build, test, and deploy features that power our travel experiences marketplace. The role blends backend focus with occasional frontend work, offering hands-on experience across the full software lifecycle. You’ll contribute to scalable systems and cross-functional initiatives that shape customer experiences and business impact.

Responsibilities
  • design, implement, test, and deploy features for backend systems
  • collaborate with product managers and designers throughout the full software lifecycle
  • release code to production on a frequent, predictable cadence (every few days)
  • contribute to backend-focused and occasional frontend projects
  • work within a modern stack (Java, GraphQL, Kubernetes, SQL/NoSQL, AWS)
  • participate in cross-functional delivery in a remote-first, flexible environment
Key requirements
  • strong proficiency in an object-oriented programming language (essential)
  • experience with backend systems and software design
  • familiarity with modern web stack elements (Java, GraphQL, Kubernetes, SQL/NoSQL, AWS)
  • ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team
