Software Engineer II

Overview

In this role you’ll help build mobile payment products for tens of millions of cardholders. You’ll shape secure, high‑quality payment experiences as part of the Digital Payments Engineering team within a Fortune 100 company. You’ll tackle architecture and cryptography challenges, collaborating with product managers to define direction and deliver best-in-class mobile and mobile‑web experiences. This is a fast‑paced environment where your work directly impacts revenue, security, and user experience.

Responsibilities

• Architect, design, develop and test EMV/AEIPS Payment Applications on JavaCard or HCE environments
• Coordinate with external labs to obtain payment product certifications
• Drive product innovation within the Mobile Payment domain
• Contribute as an agile team member, analyzing user stories, designing software, and building automation tools
• Implement layered, service‑oriented architecture over existing Amex technologies
• Collaborate across internal teams to maintain momentum and positive, can‑do attitude

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science/Engineering or 5+ years of equivalent experience
• Hands‑on development in JavaCard/HCE domain
• Experience with cryptographic algorithms (3DES, AES, RSA, ECC)
• Deep understanding of Global Platform card content and key management
• Knowledge of EMV Common Personalization Specification and processes
• Nice to have Android and iOS development exposure in payments
• Proven ability to work with multiple stakeholders in a product environment
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
