As Software Engineer II (Android) you will contribute to the Tripadvisor Experiences mobile app, collaborating with product, design, and backend teams to deliver high-quality features. You will work across design, code, testing, and deployment, releasing updates on a regular cadence. You’ll apply a modular Android stack (Kotlin, MVVM) and may touch backend services, growing your skills on the job. The role combines hands-on development with opportunities to influence product direction in a global, remote-friendly environment. You will help shape a scalable, user-centric mobile experience for travelers worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain Android features with Kotlin, MVVM, and Jetpack Compose in a modular architecture
  • Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate feature specs into deliverables
  • Contribute to backend microservices when needed and engage in end-to-end delivery from design to QA
  • Release code to production on a frequent, multi-day cycle and participate in continuous improvement
  • Tackle a range of technical challenges, including front-end app work and occasional back-end tasks
  • Apply reactive programming approaches to mobile UI and data flows
  • Embrace a global-first mindset and work with engineers across locations
  • Maintain high-quality code and clear documentation while taking ownership of features
Key requirements
  • At least 3 years of commercial software development experience
  • Experience developing an Android app and familiarity with mobile web and back-end technologies is beneficial
  • Proficiency in Kotlin, Coroutines, Jetpack Compose, MVVM, and GraphQL
  • Experience with reactive programming in native mobile platforms
  • Ability to break down complex problems and deliver simple, robust solutions
