Software Engineer II - Java, AWS

In this Software Engineer II role within CIB Payments, you contribute to building and evolving secure, scalable software as part of an agile team. You work on design, development, and troubleshooting of core components for a payments platform deployed in private cloud (Kubernetes) with migration toward AWS. You gain hands-on experience across the software lifecycle while advancing in a collaborative, innovative tech environment. This role offers meaningful impact by shaping reliable software and supporting secure payment services at scale.

• Execute standard software solutions, development, and troubleshooting across components
• Write secure, high-quality code in at least one language with limited guidance
• Design and develop with awareness of upstream/downstream systems and technical implications
• Leverage SDLC tools to improve automation value
• Conduct technical troubleshooting for basic complex problems
• Analyze large data sets to identify issues and inform decision-making
• Utilize enterprise AI coding assist tools while validating outputs via peer review and testing
• Learn and apply system processes for secure, stable code and systems
• Contribute to an inclusive team culture

• Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Experience in developing and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with modern programming languages and database querying languages
• Knowledge of distributed technologies such as Kafka and NoSQL databases like Cassandra/MongoDB
• Ability to collaborate with high-performing teams to achieve goals
• Experience across the full Software Development Life Cycle
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and ability to critically evaluate AI outputs
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows including data sensitivity, secure handling, and security expectations
• Exposure to agile practices (CI/CD, Application Resiliency, Security)
• Emerging knowledge of software applications in cloud/AI domains
• Proficiency in Object Oriented concepts, Design Patterns, Java, Spring
