Software Engineer II - Low-Latency Java and Kafka

In this role, you will design and build high-performance Java services for JPMorgan's Global Liquidity and Cash Management platform. You will work within a global team to deliver secure, scalable functionality for real-time liquidity management in the Corporate & Investment Bank. Expect to contribute to architecture, testing and production readiness while learning from a broad, cross-functional network. The role offers hands-on development, ongoing training, and visible impact on a global banking liquidity business.
Responsibilities- Design and develop high-performance, latency-sensitive code with security considerations
- Write secure, high-quality code and automated tests
- Produce architecture/design artifacts for complex applications and ensure design constraints are met by code
- Identify opportunities to reduce recurring issues and improve operational stability
- Participate in communities of practice to promote modern technologies and best practices
- Collaborate effectively as part of a global team
- Provide out-of-hours support and coordinate production releases
- Formal training or certification on Java concepts and hands-on experience
- Understanding of Java 17+ fundamentals and Spring Boot
- OO programming, multithreading, messaging technologies, and computer networks
- Experience with modern testing tools (JUnit, Mockito, Spring Test Framework)
- Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases (e.g., CockroachDB)
- Familiarity with Linux, containers, and cloud architectures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills in globally distributed contexts
