Overview

In this role you contribute to the Electronic Trading Technology (ETT) team, delivering high-performance, low-latency trading software. You will work on core framework changes and strategy engines, collaborating with quantitative traders to capture requirements. You’ll participate across the full development lifecycle and help grow junior engineers. This is a chance to influence the next-generation trading platform and scale solutions for higher data and traffic volumes.

Responsibilities
  • Delivery of key functional changes to the ETT strategy engines
  • Delivery of core framework-level changes
  • Interaction with quantitative trading group / quantitative traders to capture core requirements
  • Involved with all aspects of the development lifecycle (gathering requirements, developing code, writing unit tests, reviewing patches, performing 2nd level support)
Key requirements
  • Excellent communication skills
  • In depth understanding of core Java API’s (collections, concurrency, NIO)
  • Experience with multithreaded systems, working knowledge of the Java garbage collector, familiar with low latency I/O
  • Understanding of and experience with design patterns (Observer, Factory, Singleton)
  • Development practices including test driven development and familiarity with UML and OO design
  • Experience with Eclipse or IntelliJ, GIT, continuous build servers and Maven / Gradle
  • Ability to work with and mentor junior members and take technical direction from team lead
  • Ability to work in a multi-faceted role (development with testing, support and analysis)
  • Excellent communication skills
