Overview

In this role you design, build and support Oracle APEX applications and data pipelines to enable reliable, high-quality data for operational decisions and reporting. You will collaborate with SMEs, product owners and engineers to translate requirements into secure, scalable Oracle solutions. You’ll optimize performance and contribute to CI/CD, testing and documentation to sustain live services. The opportunity centers on data integrity in a fast-moving, mission-critical environment within Pearson’s assessment delivery programs.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and maintain Oracle APEX applications from data model to UI, security and deployment
  • Write and optimise SQL/PLSQL, including packages, procedures, functions and triggers
  • Build, schedule and monitor ETL/ELT pipelines and data reconciliation between Oracle and other systems
  • Implement data validation rules, reconciliation checks and exception handling at source
  • Tune performance of queries, pipelines and APEX pages using execution plans, indexing and partitioning
  • Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD and technical documentation
  • Support live services by investigating incidents and data defects
Key requirements
  • Oracle Database, SQL and PL/SQL expertise
  • Commercial experience with Oracle APEX applications
  • Experience with data transformation/integration projects
  • Strong data modelling and knowledge of data warehousing concepts
  • CI/CD and automated testing basics (utPLSQL, Git)
  • Experience with REST data services (ORDS) and APEX REST Data Sources
  • JavaScript/HTML/CSS for UI customization
  • Knowledge of source control and environment promotion workflows
