Overview

As a Web Engineer at JPM Personal Investing, you will build and deliver user-friendly web features for Nutmeg within a cross-functional Engineering and Product team. You’ll work with a unified web stack and an internal React Design system to enable scalable, high-quality experiences. This role focuses on solving real user problems with robust code, performance, accessibility, and security in mind. You’ll join a collaborative engineering culture that values learning, code quality, and cross-team knowledge sharing, with a clear impact on helping customers make informed investment decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver product features within domain-owned epic initiatives
  • Identify, troubleshoot and resolveDefects
  • Maintain high-quality code with testing and standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in discussions/guilds
  • Contribute to code reviews and share knowledge
  • Create/maintain technical documentation for features
  • Understand product/tech ownership for domain areas
  • Participate in Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives)
  • Consider WCAG, security, observability and performance in all deliverables
Key requirements
  • Proven track record of building customer-centric web applications/SPAs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong proficiency in React and its core principles
  • Solid grasp of HTML5 semantics and CSS responsive design
  • JavaScript ES6 proficiency
  • General networking (HTTP, IP & DNS, Caching)
  • Proficient with Chrome DevTools
  • Experience with version control (Git)
  • Experience with Docker
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proactive communicator with owned assignments
  • Ability to manage time and meet deadlines
  • Experience with testing frameworks (Jest or RTL)
  • Understanding of build tools (Webpack, Vite, Parcel)
  • Understanding of preprocessors (SASS, CSS Modules)
  • Understanding of CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitHub Actions)
