Software Engineer III – Python / Databricks

Overview

In this role you will design and deliver secure, scalable data solutions within Investment Banking Data Products. You’ll build and maintain data pipelines and architectures that support multiple business functions, working with cross-functional engineers to drive innovation and excellence. You’ll apply modern data practices and AI-assisted development to improve quality and speed, while ensuring resiliency and secure data handling. This is a hands-on, impact-oriented opportunity at a leading financial services firm.

Responsibilities
  • Develop ETL/ELT workflows and pipelines using Python and Databricks for scalable data solutions
  • Review controls to protect enterprise data across the lifecycle
  • Implement data security using entitlements frameworks to safeguard sensitive information
  • Update logical and physical data models based on evolving business needs
  • Apply advanced SQL (joins/aggregations) and NoSQL understanding for diverse access patterns
  • Incorporate reuse-first, AI-assisted practices to boost SDLC quality for pipelines (test generation, control validation) with traceability and security alignment
  • Leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, speed, and productivity with peer review, tests, and secure coding standards
  • Utilize SDLC toolchain tools, including AI-assisted development and automation, to enhance automation value
Key requirements
  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts
  • Good working knowledge of cloud-based data services (especially Glue jobs and Federated Data Lake), unified analytics platforms, and Python
  • Experience across the data lifecycle (ingestion, transformation, storage, access)
  • Advanced SQL proficiency with Joins and aggregations; working knowledge of NoSQL databases
  • Experience with statistical data analysis and selecting appropriate analysis tools/patterns
  • Experience using cloud services to develop, deploy, and manage applications at scale
  • Solid understanding of SDLC tools for config management, CI/CD, unit/regression/performance testing
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development tools and ability to evaluate AI outputs
  • Understanding of responsible AI use, data sensitivity, secure handling, and resiliency/security expectations
