Overview

As a Software Engineer in a scale-up fintech, you will build and iterate core payment platform features, gateway API, and web portal. You’ll work in a hybrid London setup, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable backend services. You’ll shape technical decisions, adopt emerging technologies, and contribute to a mission of enabling money transfers to underserved communities. This is a hands-on role with autonomy to pick the right tool for the job and scale impactful solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and enhance backend features for the payment platform and gateway API
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, test, and iterate core products
  • Work with emerging technologies and choose appropriate tools for the task
  • Contribute to backend architecture and data flows on the platform
  • Support and improve system reliability and performance on AWS
  • Engage in a mixed on-site/off-site hybrid work model in London
  • Maintain code quality with emphasis on security and scalability
Key requirements
  • Strong Java server-side development experience
  • Knowledge of messaging systems, especially Kafka
  • AWS experience
  • Good SQL knowledge with PostgreSQL ideally
  • Kotlin experience or willingness to learn
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a startup environment
  • Degree educated, Computer Science preferred
