Overview

As Mobile Security Engineer within Starling's Cyber Security team, you will design and maintain security controls for Starling's Android and iOS apps, protecting customer data on devices. You will collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify and remediate vulnerabilities and to build secure mobile experiences. You’ll stay ahead of threats, automate security testing in the development lifecycle, and ensure compliance with global standards. This role lets you shape the security of a tech-first fintech that serves millions of customers and operates at scale.

Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and maintain security controls for Android and iOS apps and device data
  • Partner with internal engineering teams to identify and remediate mobile security vulnerabilities
  • Provide technical consultancy to engineering and operations to ensure secure development and operation
  • Stay informed on emerging threats and trends for Android and iOS
  • Create automated solutions to streamline security testing and vulnerability management in the mobile lifecycle
  • Maintain adherence to global security standards and regulatory requirements
Key requirements
  • Strong Mobile Security knowledge for Android and iOS
  • Swift for iOS; Kotlin/Java for Android
  • Public cloud (IaaS) technologies
  • Reverse engineering capabilities for mobile apps
  • Cryptography knowledge for data and network protection
  • Awareness of mobile threat landscape (malware, remote access)
  • Experience API-based security integrations
  • Willingness to learn new technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication for cross-functional collaboration
  • Client-facing security consulting experience is highly desirable
