Overview

In this role you will develop and deliver software for regional TV platforms targeting Europe and Australia, collaborating with SOC vendors and supporting broadcast-standard certifications. You’ll contribute to both greenfield features and ongoing platform evolution, shaping regional TV software while growing across a complex system. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and push high-velocity delivery using modern coding aids. This is a hands-on, early-career role at Roku, focused on international growth and impactful TV experience.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain software for regional TV platforms with a Europe/Australia focus
  • Collaborate with SOC vendors to enable new TV projects and troubleshoot issues
  • Support certification processes with organisations like ETV, BBC, and DTG
  • Contribute to new software projects from requirements to implementation
  • Develop primarily in C++, with occasional C, Python and JavaScript as needed
  • Port and adapt software to meet regional standards (e.g., HbbTV)
  • Troubleshoot issues across the software stack and coordinate cross-functional resolutions
  • Participate in greenfield feature development for new TV platform launches
  • Leverage AI coding assistants and agentic tools to boost velocity and code quality
Key requirements
  • 1–3 years of experience with C and/or C++ in a commercial environment
  • Familiarity with Python
  • Interest in embedded systems or low-level software development
  • Advanced AI fluency and use of coding assistants/tools
  • Systems-level mindset and curiosity about inter-part interactions
  • Exposure to Linux environments (a plus)
  • Familiarity with HTML or browser-based development (a plus)
