Software Engineer - Structured Data (2189756)

Referment is working with a financial-markets technology business whose trade-surveillance software helps major financial institutions detect potentially manipulative activity across products. Large and complex datasets sit at the centre of its quantitative and regulatory capabilities.

The business is seeking a Software Engineer to join the team responsible for the structured-data platform underpinning its products and services. You will work across a sophisticated technology stack, building services for data processing and analytics while improving the platform’s reliability, scalability and delivery practices.

The role combines hands-on engineering with technical ownership. You will collaborate closely with quantitative teams to understand demanding data requirements, contribute to architectural decisions and support critical platform components in production.

The Role

• Own and support critical components of a large-scale data platform.
• Work with quantitative specialists to translate complex data requirements into robust platform capabilities.
• Design, build and maintain services supporting substantial data-processing and analytics workloads.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines so software can be delivered reliably and efficiently.
• Contribute to the architecture and evolution of cloud-native data systems.
• Investigate and improve platform performance, stability and scalability.

What We're Looking For

• Strong software-engineering capability in C#, Python or Java.
• Meaningful experience working with financial-markets systems or data.
• Good knowledge of SQL and related data technologies.
• Experience with AWS or another cloud-native technology environment.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with close attention to detail.
• A proactive approach and the ability to manage work across several concurrent projects.

Relevant Desirable Experience

Experience building data-intensive platforms, analytics infrastructure or services used by quantitative teams would be particularly relevant. Exposure to cloud architecture, platform reliability and sophisticated deployment pipelines would also transfer well.

This could suit a backend, data-platform or financial-software engineer who wants to take broader ownership of the systems connecting market data, quantitative analysis and production applications.
