Overview
As a Software Engineer at Cumberland Systematic, you will build and maintain the full stack enabling a global, high-availability trading operation. You’ll work with researchers and traders to deliver research, market data, and execution tooling in C++ and Python. You’ll apply your engineering depth to create robust, low-latency systems that support delta-one strategies and post-trade analysis. This role blends hands-on development with collaboration across quantitative teams to drive impactful results.
Responsibilities- Design, develop, test, document, and maintain software for research, trading, and post-trade analysis
- Develop market data handling, feature/signal computation, portfolio optimization, and execution management
- Work across C++ and Python; contribute to the full software stack
- Perform unit, functional, and integration testing
- Collaborate with researchers, traders and other software engineers
- Provide on-call support as needed
- 5+ years of professional C++ experience
- Built complex, mission-critical systems in modern C++ that are maintainable and refactorable
- Deep understanding of concurrency concepts and their application in C++ and Python
- Working knowledge of type safety and type systems
- Developed high availability distributed systems with tight latency constraints
- Understanding of computer networking and related tradeoffs
- Practical knowledge of fundamental statistics and numerical methods
- Experience writing software for the trading domain
