Software Engineer - Trading Systems

Want to build software where speed, accuracy and engineering quality have a direct impact on global financial markets?

We’re partnering with one of the world’s most sophisticated technology-driven trading firms to hire an experienced Software Engineer in London.

This isn’t a conventional data engineering role. You’ll be building core technology that sits behind a global trading operation, solving complex engineering problems around financial data, scalability and reliability. The systems you build will be used every day in an environment where better technology can translate directly into better trading decisions.

You’ll have genuine ownership, exposure to highly complex technical problems and the opportunity to learn how modern electronic markets work from the inside.

What you'll do:

• Design and build high-quality software supporting sophisticated electronic trading.
• Develop systems capable of processing complex financial datasets accurately and reliably.
• Solve challenging engineering problems around data quality, scale, performance and resilience.
• Build new technology as the firm expands across markets, products and data sources.
• Re-engineer and improve existing systems rather than simply maintaining them.
• Take projects from initial idea and architecture through to production.
• Work closely with engineers and trading teams to understand real-world problems and develop elegant technical solutions.
• Have a genuine voice in technical decisions, architecture and how the platform evolves.

Your Profile:

• Strong professional software engineering experience and excellent computer science fundamentals.
• Highly proficient in C++, C#, C and/or Python.
• Experience building complex, production-grade backend systems.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, data structures and system design.
• Someone who enjoys getting to the bottom of difficult technical problems rather than simply shipping features.
• Comfortable taking ownership and making engineering decisions.
• Curious, pragmatic and constantly looking for ways to make systems better.
• Trading or financial markets experience is welcome but not essential.

You’ll be working in an environment where technology is the business rather than simply a supporting function. Engineers work closely with the people using what they build, have substantial ownership and can see the real-world impact of their work.
