Software Engineering Director

In this role you will lead multiple product engineering teams within FanDuel's Core Apps Enablement group to deliver foundational capabilities, tools, and services for mobile and frontend platforms. You will shape and own an enablement-focused technical vision, improve developer experience, and ensure scalable, reliable BFF services that accelerate feature delivery. You collaborate with mobile, BFF, and platform teams to drive strategic initiatives and balance build-vs-buy decisions. You’ll mentor engineers, own blockers, and steward predictable, high-quality delivery with leadership and empathy.

• Lead and coordinate several product engineering teams focused on enablement for mobile, BFF, and enabling services
• Define and drive the enablement roadmap and strategic direction for foundational capabilities and developer tooling
• Identify gaps, negotiate ownership across domains, and promote reusable technology across mobile, BFF, and platform teams
• Ensure scalability, reliability, and productivity of BFF services and platform infrastructure
• Partner with leadership and stakeholders to balance backlogs, roadmaps, and delivery velocity
• Drive operational excellence with data-driven metrics for platform reliability and developer productivity
• Manage people, hiring, performance, and succession with a focus on empathy and leadership
• Oversee release processes and on-call support to maintain uptime and rapid deployment
• Communicate strategic initiatives and ensure multi-year horizon planning for platform evolution
• Manage expenditures and seek cost efficiencies in tooling, infrastructure, and vendor services

• 10+ years in software, with 5+ years in managing SE teams (ideally including managers)
• Strong experience with mobile platforms (iOS, Android, Web) and BFF architectures
• Proven track record delivering developer tools or enablement services that boost productivity
• Experience designing solutions for consumer-facing products in fast-paced, high-availability environments
• Hands-on experience with highly available, fault-tolerant transactional systems
• Experience implementing software delivery best practices and agile methodologies
• Production support experience with focus on stability, availability, and performance
• Track record of collaborations with partner teams and third-party development
• Experience defining and executing a strategic vision for enablement capabilities
• Experience delivering distributed, scalable APIs and backend systems
