As Software Engineering Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary team delivering surface profiler, thin-film, sheet resistance, and nanoindentation instruments. You’ll guide both people leadership and technical direction across firmware, desktop software, and measurement algorithms, partnering with hardware and product teams to ship high-quality products. The role blends software architecture, AI/ML-enabled development, and cross-functional collaboration to solve real metrology challenges. You will foster a high-performing culture and drive continuous improvement in processes and product quality.

- Lead and develop software and firmware engineers with clear goals, feedback, and career growth
- Provide technical direction across embedded firmware, Windows desktop software (C#/.NET, C++), and data-analysis algorithms
- Plan and execute team work: scoping, scheduling, risk/ tradeoff management, and on-time releases
- Drive architecture decisions via reviews, uphold standards for quality, performance, reliability, and security
- Recruit, onboard, and cultivate an inclusive, high-performing team culture
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, systems, product, manufacturing, and customers
- Coordinate with globally distributed teams on system integration, software releases, and best practices
- Foster responsible use of AI/ML and AI-assisted development tools within security policies
- Promote root-cause analysis and continuous improvement in process and product quality
- Bachelor’s degree (required) + significant relevant experience
- Master’s or advanced degree (desired) + relevant experience and people-management/tech-lead experience
- Strong fundamentals in software engineering: architecture, data structures, algorithms, design patterns, multithreaded design, testing, debugging
- Breadth in Microsoft .NET and C# for Windows desktop apps; C and C++ including embedded firmware; real-time system architectures
- Experience with measurement, data-analysis, or signal/image-processing algorithms
- Proficiency with Git, modern development practices, and coding standards
- Excellent communication and influence across engineering, customers, and leadership
- Ability to collaborate across the US, Europe, and Asia
- Strong organizational, planning, and data-driven leadership skills
