Software Quality Engineer

Overview

As Software QA Lead for Lockheed Martin UK RMS, you will oversee software quality assurance across multiple programs and ensure regulatory and 3rd party certifications. You will advise on QA strategies, audits, and root cause analysis, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve software processes. Your work supports mission-critical systems, including aviation and cyber domains, across the CADMID cycle. This is a hands-on, impact-focused role that shapes quality across platforms and interfaces with regulatory bodies.

Responsibilities

• Provide Software QA oversight across LM UK RMS programs and functional areas
• Plan and support external audits by customers, regulators, and certification bodies
• Conduct and lead root cause analysis and process improvements to drive performance
• Oversee software quality activities during design, development, and maintenance
• Ensure compliance with contractual, technical, and process requirements
• Review and approve artifacts (requirements, design, code, test plans, procedures) for quality adequacy
• Support equipment release signatories and verify traceability and testability of requirements
• Monitor supply chain and perform subcontractor site inspections in collaboration with other functions

• Qualification in software design, engineering, or computer science (NVQ Level4/ONC or above)
• AS9100 Lead Auditor (preferred) or Lead Auditor in ISO9001/ISO2000/ISO27001
• Knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
• SQL and scripting knowledge; experience in software development and software QA
• Awareness of IT Service Management and information security standards (ISO20000/ISO27001)
• Familiarity with Agile development
